Time Flies

August 2010 already wow!  This has been an incredible year so far and more to come.

I just finished a book called Crush It.  How to cash in on your passion.  By Gary Vay ner cuck aka @garyvee.

And it very much described to me my life.  2010 was about putting family first.  Doing what I love.  And working Hard as HELL!

And man is it paying off.

If you haven’t read that book go buy it.

2 years ago I asked myself what don’t I know that I need to know to be where I want to be.

I came up empty because I just didn’t know.

So I decided to ask what areas do I need to know more in to be where I wanted to be.

Then the doors opened as I studied everything I could on those topics.

Which lead to others topics.  Which guess what?

Yeah lead to other topics.

Some boring but needed most ABSOLUTELY needed.

And today I have met some many great people because of this learning.

And that is why I can truly say that I have never been happier.

Always be a student.  That is a huge lesson I learned in 2010.

Look for BIG things here in the coming weeks and months.

A few new sites launching.

But first some needed R and R in Hawaii in a few weeks.

Local Business Seo and Search Marketing Are you in? Or are you A Dork?

Recent Report Shows that internet usage grew 46% in 2009.  That is HUGE grow considering the massive numbers of people that are being referenced here.

It has been estimated that that over a half BILLION local searches are done each month on google which is about 60-70% of the search market.  That would mean that almost a Billion searches are done each month online.

How many are for your service in your area?

There are tools to check the answer to that question but rather than analysis paralysis I would suggest that you get started NOW!

What is the minimum you should do?

  • Have a good conversion optimized website
  • Get your site to rank 1 or 2 for your main keywords
  • Get ALL the possible local listings – Yelp, Google, Yahoo and Bing to start
  • Get some PPC Ads going

That is the minimum to get you started.

Of course I suggest hiring a professional that you can trust.

There is so much that a good marketing funnel and follow up system of stacked marketing can do.

Don’t be cheap and trip over a dollar to pick up or save a dime.

Local Seo – businesses need front page coverage multiple times

As a small business seo has been something that has been low on the priority list of things to do.

A lot of people are thinking that google local map is google local seo.

But the truth is you want to show up multiple times on the front page of any search engine multiple times for the keywords related to your business.

First you go for the low hanging fruit keyword.

Then you go for the next best and so on.

Many companies pay per click and have great budgets but neglect to spend on seo to be able to get that organic traffic for free for years to come.

I would guess that is part of the instant gratification society we live in.

But mostly due to ingnorance.

What does your seo budget look like?
